Solar panel cleaning — keep your array producing
Professional solar panel washing and maintenance for residential and commercial arrays: gentle cleaning, debris removal, inspections, post-storm cleanup and bird-proofing. Always with deionised water and soft brushes — never a pressure washer.
Soiling costs output quietly
Solar panels lose efficiency long before they look obviously dirty. In Southern California the culprits are constant: fine dust through the dry months, heavy tree and grass pollen in spring, wildfire ash, coastal salt film, and bird droppings — which are the worst offender, because a single opaque spot can drag down the output of a whole string.
Because there's no rain for months at a time here, nothing washes it off. The loss is gradual, so most owners never notice until they compare production year on year.
We clean with deionised water and soft brushes or low-pressure rinse systems, so there's no scratching, no damage to seals, and no mineral residue left drying on the glass. And while we're up there, we check for shading issues, micro-soiling and hot spots.

Solar panel cleaning FAQs
Why shouldn't solar panels be pressure washed?
High pressure can scratch the anti-reflective coating, force water past the frame seals and damage the junction boxes and wiring — turning a cleaning job into a warranty problem. Panels need soft brushes and low-pressure or deionised rinsing, which is what we use.
How often should panels be cleaned in Southern California?
Once or twice a year suits most systems here. Go more often if you're under trees, near agriculture or heavy traffic, or if you have persistent bird activity on the roof.
Why deionised water?
Ordinary tap water leaves dissolved minerals behind as it dries, creating exactly the spotting that blocks light. Deionised water dries clean with no residue, so no detergent is needed for routine cleaning.
Can you stop birds nesting under the panels?
Yes. We offer bird-proofing with mesh, exclusion strips, safe spikes and netting, plus removal of existing nesting material. It's usually worth doing at the same visit as a clean.
